Born Nantwich, enlisted Manchester. Son of Thomas and Emma Parker of Pillory Street, Nantwich. Served his apprenticeship as a grocer with Messrs. P. H. Chesters and was with Mead’s of Manchester prior to enlisting. Went to France (Boulogne) on November 9, 1915. Was a first day casualty of the Battle of the Somme. Shot through the head just after going over the top during the Battle of Albert (Mametz).
